Since the Newtonian limit is the basis of the post-Newtonian approximation, we shall first formulate the Newtonian limit. We follow the formulation by Futamase and Schutz [82 ]. We will not mention other formulations of the post-Newtonian approximation [63 , 70 , 134 ].
