Review:  Let a1 < a2 < ... < an < ... be a sequence of integers such that an+1-an ––> oo as n ––> oo. It is shown that sumnan2-an is irrational. The proof is elementary and ingenious and complemented by numerous remarks and suggestions on related questions.
