Title:  On a problem of Sierpinski. (Extract from a letter to W. Sierpinski) (In English)

Review:  Answering a question of W.Sierpinski (Zbl 122.04602), the author proves that for a certain absolute constant C, every integer > C+sumi = 2s+1 pi is the sum of s integers > 1, pairwise relatively prime (pi is the ith prime). This is best possible up to the value of C since sumi = 2s+1 pi-2 is not the sum in question. The integers pairwise relatively prime are taken in the proof to be primes or squares of primes. In Lemma 1, in place of C1 read c1.
